Hi! I’m Kirsten “K.R.” Sexton-Murrell.
A Graphic Designer/Graphic Artist from California who is now a brand new Washington resident. My most recent position was a Marketing Graphic Designer role for the YMCA of Orange County combining my love for design with my desire of wanting to contribute positively to something based around community. Previously, I was an SMU (Special Mock Up) Designer for Rip Curl designing graphics for women’s t-shirts, hoodies, hats, presentation materials, and more. Before that, I’ve worked for Walt Disney Imagineering as a Graphic Designer and Illustrator working on projects seen around Disneyland, California Adventure, and the Disney hotels in Anaheim. I also spent time as a Graphic Designer and Social Media Manager for a handful of restaurants in Carlsbad, designing for web, print, signage, menus, and everything in between.
While working as a design professional, I’ve also been pursuing my own small art business through my Etsy shop. With this passion project, I’ve further developed my Illustration and Design abilities, taught myself Social Media Marketing, gained a committed group of supporters, learned how to edit videos and make a profit through YouTube, practiced how to humanize customer service and content writing, experimented with Photography and Photo editing, and so much more. It has been one of the most fulfilling journeys I’ve had in life thus far. Currently, I’m looking for new opportunities that I can pour this dedication and passion that I feel for design into and practice the valuable skills I’ve gained.
But enough about the heavy stuff, in my free time I’m just a big ol’ dork. I love blogging, going to antique/thrift stores, listening to film/tv/video game soundtracks, mini road trips, Nancy Drew PC games, watching TedxTalks, making YouTube videos when I can, going to the park (any park), trips to the library for the ambiance, listening to Podcasts, watching behind-the-scenes footage of films, having deep conversations about aspirations, and learning new things. I really love to learn and grow as a designer and human. Lately I’ve been teaching myself how to sew and quilt, I am in love with it!
